Rust August 2026 Update: Bar Games, Powered Monuments & Force Wipe
Rust Power Trip Update: Player-Powered Monuments, Satellite Crashes and Bar Games
Rust’s Power Trip Update arrives on Thursday, August 6, 2026, alongside the mandatory monthly force wipe.
This is one of the largest monument-focused updates Rust has received in some time. Power Plant now acts as the center of a new island-wide electrical network, with players restoring power to unlock machinery, resources, events, and rewards across several monuments.
The update also introduces the Satellite Crash event, crude oil production at Dome, working garages at Oxum’s Gas Station, powered Supermarket freezers, major recycler changes, new quality-of-life features, balance adjustments, and two new premium additions: the Bar Games Pack and Stone Sculpture.
Player-Maintained Monuments
Player-Maintained Monuments are the centerpiece of the Power Trip Update.
Several existing monuments are now connected through a shared island electrical grid. Power Plant controls the overall power level, and the number of working Heavy Fuses installed there determines which systems become available elsewhere.
The connected infrastructure includes Power Plant, Launch Site, Dome, Oil Rig, Airfield, Water Treatment Plant, Oxum’s Gas Station, Supermarket, and selected roadside locations.
Keeping everything online will take a steady supply of Heavy Fuses. This means the system can become a server-wide effort, a point of conflict, or something one group attempts to control for itself.
Power Plant and Heavy Fuses
Power Plant serves as the main control point for the island grid.
Heavy Fuses can be found in standard loot crates and Underwater Labs crates. Players must carry them through Power Plant’s existing monument puzzle and install them inside the new Heavy Fuse Box located in the green-card room.
The normal green-card route remains unchanged. From the Heavy Fuse room, players must use a regular fuse and switch to access the blue-card room upstairs, where the island grid can be activated.
Each additional bank of Heavy Fuses increases the grid’s power stage and unlocks more connected systems around the map.
Once a Heavy Fuse has been installed, it cannot be removed or replaced. Installed fuses gradually lose condition, and damaged fuses deteriorate faster once they fall below 30%.
Players will be able to tell when Power Plant is running through visible and audible changes, including active turbines, lighting, cooling-tower steam, generator effects, and industrial sounds.
Recycler Rebalance
Recyclers have received an important balance change as part of the new power system.
Standard green recyclers located outside safe zones now operate at 50% efficiency while the island grid is below power stage two. Once stage two is reached, they return to their previous 60% efficiency.
Yellow recyclers inside safe zones remain at 40% efficiency, regardless of the island’s power level.
Power Plant’s previous green recycler has been replaced with a new red recycler located inside the green-card room. It becomes active at the highest power stage, returns approximately 75% of recycled materials, and processes items on a four-second cycle.
That makes it the strongest recycler on the island, but players must keep the Power Plant grid fully operational to use it.
Roadside Electricity
Some power poles found beside roads now contain working electrical boxes.
While the island grid is active, each electrical box can provide up to 30 power across six separate connections. The available output scales with the percentage of working Heavy Fuses installed at Power Plant.
Players can connect wires to these boxes without building privilege. However, removing a connection is protected by the building authorization at the other end, which should reduce the ability of random players to disconnect someone else’s setup.
These powered roadside locations could become valuable building spots, particularly when combined with nearby water outlets.
Satellite Crash Event
The Satellite Crash is the largest new event introduced in the Power Trip Update.
Once Power Plant reaches stage four, players can access a new satellite control station at Launch Site. The terminal is activated using an Aiming Module, which is the renamed version of the previous MLRS Aiming Module.
The terminal presents several satellites with different payload sizes and remaining thruster burns. Players can spend those burns to adjust the target coordinates and reduce the size of the possible impact area.
Using more fuel makes the satellite easier to land in a convenient location. Saving fuel makes the recovered thruster components more valuable.
After the target is confirmed, the satellite takes around ten minutes to descend. The estimated crash area and countdown remain visible at the Launch Site terminal before the satellite streaks across the map and crashes into the selected region.
The impact creates a visible server event, with a lingering trail that gives nearby players a good idea of where the wreck landed.
Satellite crates remain too hot to open for five minutes. The main wreckage cannot be safely harvested for approximately eight minutes and creates a small but dangerous radiation zone.
Possible crate rewards include:
-
High Quality Metal
-
Tech Trash
-
CCTV Cameras
-
Targeting Computers
-
Turret components
-
A possible replacement Aiming Module
Players can also harvest three Thruster Modules from the wreckage. Their remaining condition depends on how much fuel was preserved before impact. Thruster Modules can only be recycled, with a well-preserved module potentially returning as many as 12 Explosives.
Once the event has been completed, the Launch Site terminal enters a recalibration period lasting roughly 30 to 40 minutes on default server settings.
Crude Oil Production at Dome
Dome’s Sphere Tank now contains three functional crude oil pumps.
Players can connect a vehicle tanker module to the pumps using the Hose Tool. However, the pumps will not begin producing until new switches have been activated inside the red-card puzzle areas at Small or Large Oil Rig.
These switches only receive power once the island grid reaches stage three.
Small Oil Rig provides approximately half production, while Large Oil Rig provides the full production rate. Activating both creates a combined output of roughly one and a half times the Large Oil Rig rate.
The pumps remain active for around 20 minutes.
Once a tanker has been filled, the crude oil can only be removed while the vehicle is positioned on a car lift. This creates a connected resource route involving Power Plant, Oil Rig, Dome, modular vehicles, tanker modules, and Oxum’s garage.
Airfield Event Terminals
Two chargeable terminals have been added to Airfield’s main tower.
One terminal increases airdrop activity across the island. The other calls a Chinook directly to Airfield.
Both systems require their own fuses and must charge using electricity from the island grid. Access to the terminals is controlled by a locked door at the bottom of the tower.
The two terminals compete for available power. The Chinook terminal requires both fuses and drains charge already accumulated by the airdrop system.
In most situations, players will need to choose which event they want to activate rather than running both simultaneously.
The Chinook option is also restricted to power stage four, meaning lower grid stages will primarily support the airdrop terminal.
Water Treatment and Roadside Water
Water Treatment Plant now contains an expanded water-production system.
Players can place gears into new machinery to activate valves connected to the monument’s water tank. Each working valve increases system pressure and overall water production.
New gauges, pipes, gearboxes, and valve equipment provide feedback on the system’s current state.
Water outlets can also appear at selected roadside locations. Each pipe offers three Hose Tool connections and received a significant increase to its output before release.
A location containing both a roadside water outlet and a powered electrical pole could become an extremely useful farming location.
Oxum’s Gas Station Garage
Oxum’s Gas Station now contains a functioning vehicle garage.
A small generator behind the station can be fueled with Low Grade Fuel to open the shutters and activate the car lift. This generator acts as a backup, allowing the garage to work even when the main island grid is offline.
The lift can be used to:
-
Raise and lower modular vehicles
-
Install or remove vehicle modules
-
Perform vehicle repairs
-
Extract crude oil from tanker modules
The lift itself cannot be destroyed. Vehicles and other objects caught beneath or above it are not as fortunate, as the crushing mechanism can destroy cars, horses, bicycles, and anything else placed in its path.
Oxum’s also receives a visually distinct advanced vehicle-parts crate containing medium-quality components.
Powered Supermarket Freezers
Supermarkets now have working food freezers that operate while the island grid is powered.
The freezers receive frequent small restocks, along with occasional larger refreshes containing a broader selection of food.
A large restock will not immediately be replaced by a smaller refresh unless someone has opened the freezer. This means an untouched freezer may contain substantially more supplies than one that has recently been looted.
Bar Games Pack
The new Bar Games Pack introduces playable entertainment and pub-themed decorations for player bases.
Pool Table
The pool table supports both single-player and multiplayer matches.
It includes functional ball physics, aiming controls, scoring, sound effects, game resets, and improved networking. Players can make small aiming adjustments with the mouse and larger changes using the A and D keys.
The balls now begin in the correct rack and visibly fall into the table pockets. Facepunch also addressed issues involving disappearing balls, incorrect resets, placement, pickup, repairs, mounting, dismounting, and low-framerate gameplay.
Playable Darts
The dartboard also supports solo and multiplayer games.
It includes proper scoring, player-colored darts, bullseye effects, victory effects, and an in-game guide explaining how to play.
Dartboards can also be placed on boats.
Additional Bar Items
The pack also contains:
-
A powered jukebox
-
An LCD display showing the active station or cassette
-
Wooden and metal bar stools
-
A mini fridge
-
Bar-themed wall coverings
-
Bar-themed flooring
-
Decorative sprays
-
A Bar Games Shotgun Trap skin
-
Three additional radio stations
The Bar Games Pack is premium content and is separate from the free monument update.
Stone Sculpture
Stone Sculpture is a separate premium item that gives players a detailed editing interface for creating custom stone artwork.
Rather than striking a block repeatedly in the world, players interact with the sculpture’s pedestal and open a dedicated editor.
Available tools include:
-
Additive sculpting
-
Subtractive carving
-
Push and pull tools
-
Slab tools
-
Clip Curve
-
Smoothing
-
Adjustable brush size, strength, and hardness
The editor previews which part of the stone will be added or removed and automatically limits brush sizes based on the remaining sculptable area.
Stone Sculptures also support bullet penetration. Projectiles lose approximately 20% of their damage when passing through the sculpture.
High External Wall Upkeep
High External Walls and gates now contribute to building upkeep when placed near a connected structure.
This applies to:
-
High External Wooden Walls
-
High External Stone Walls
-
Matching wooden and stone gates
-
Legacy variants
-
Ice variants
These deployables use their own upkeep calculation rather than directly inheriting the percentage applied to the main base.
Large compounds will now need to account for perimeter walls when filling their Tool Cupboards.
Balance Changes
The Power Trip Update includes several notable balance adjustments:
-
Auto Turrets now cost 25 High Quality Metal instead of 10.
-
AKs once again spawn with four Rifle Bullets loaded.
-
The Bucket Helmet costs less to craft.
-
The Bucket Helmet gains additional projectile and bite protection.
-
The Collared Shirt gains projectile and radiation protection.
-
Blowpipe Cloth cost is reduced from 25 to 10.
-
Blowpipe Wood Dart damage increases from 40 to 50.
-
The Snow Jacket receives improved cold and bite protection.
-
Spoiled Produce now stacks to 20 instead of 10.
-
The Catapult reload time increases from three seconds to six.
-

-
Nest Hats and Lunar New Year animal masks now function as Wolf Headdress skins.
-
Resource nodes can no longer appear inside safe zones.
-
Fishing Villages now sell usable Kayaks and Paddles instead of blueprints.
-
Water Well vendors carry less general stock and take longer to restock.
-
Siege weapons can once again receive fire damage.
Workbench Recycle Bin
The Workbench Recycle Bin upgrade now includes its own 16-slot container.
When a player cancels a crafting job, the returned materials are placed inside the recycle bin rather than being forced into the player’s inventory or dropped onto the ground.
The container is take-only, so it cannot be used as additional general storage.
This should make cancelling large crafting queues much cleaner, especially when the player’s inventory is already full.
Sleeping Bag and Compass Improvements
Beds and sleeping bags now have an option in their radial menu that displays the selected spawn point on the compass.
Only one can be tracked at a time.
Players can also favorite important bags, making bases, raid bags, and strategic spawn locations easier to identify in a long list.
Shield Toggle
Equipped shields can now remain strapped to the player’s back instead of automatically being held.
Players can switch between the stored and ready positions while keeping the shield equipped.
Several related visibility, animation, and clipping issues have also been corrected.
Demo Viewer Overhaul
Rust’s redesigned demo viewer is included with the update but must currently be enabled using:
demo.newui true
The updated viewer includes:
-
A redesigned timeline
-
Track controls
-
Hierarchy and inspector panels
-
Scene tools
-
Lighting controls
-
Puppets and animation tracks
-
Dolly cameras
-
Camera previews
-
Depth-of-field controls
-
Undo and redo
-
Improved cinematic exporting
The previous demo viewer remains available as a fallback.
Apartment Complex Changes
Apartment rent boxes can now hold a maximum of 72 hours of Scrap, preventing players from paying for extremely long rental periods in advance.
Master Key break-ins now use a dedicated held-key animation and require the player to aim directly at the door lock.
The interaction will no longer appear on empty apartments or while another break-in is already taking place.
Several synchronization, saving, animation, and door-interaction issues have also been corrected.
Players who dismount the Apartment Complex swing set at speed can now be thrown according to their momentum.
Rust+ and Performance Improvements
Rust+ camera resolution has been doubled without doubling the number of raycasts required from the server.
For security reasons, Rust+ no longer receives the procedural map seed. Several map markers are also no longer sent through the application, including:
-
Vending Machines
-
Cargo Ship
-
Patrol Helicopter
-
Traveling Vendor
The update also contains major backend optimization work.
Navmesh generation is reported to be roughly twice as fast, with fixes for missing tiles, failed saves, and NPC movement problems.
A low-level memory-pooling system was replaced with a version that performed up to 20% faster during internal testing. JSON processing was also rewritten to reduce unnecessary garbage collection and memory allocation.
Additional Quality-of-Life Changes
Other useful changes include:
-
Deployed boomboxes now have individual volume controls.
-
Weapon attachment sounds can only be heard from up to 20 meters instead of 60.
-
Mortar aiming has received finer angle calculations.
-
Vehicle item icons can be used as chat emojis.
